I’ve mentioned this in other recent entries but lately I’ve been in love with creating videos. I like editing them, I like writing them, I just like the whole process.
Back in January of 2012, me and four of my other fellow martial arts brothers were getting awarded our black belts in Jiu-Jitsu. I don’t know if you know anything about Brazilin Jiu-Jitsu but it takes a really, really, long time and a LOT of training to get a black belt in this art. It took me nearly 12 years.
It’s pretty rare that five students conclude this really long journey at the same time so our long time instructor, Eddie Camden, wanted to make it a big event. The day did not disappoint!
Sifu Eddie, me, Kenny Kim as well as several others went all out to promote it. We ended up having about 400 friends and family show up to support us. Sifu Eddie reserved a big banquet room at a hotel and there was grappling demonstrations, self-defense demos and best of all, the legendary Royce Gracie was the special guest.
It was pretty damn kool to have the original UFC Champion and MMA legend put that Black Belt around our waists. I mean, this guy was one of the reasons I started doing Jiu-Jitsu!
Anyway, there was a lot of different camera phone footage from that day so I gathered it all up and made this highlight video of that very awesome day.
Hope you enjoy!
