I’m pretty excited, on October 17th at 2pm at the Tiger Academy I’m hosting a “Kimura Workshop!” When it comes to martial arts I consider myself a jack of all trades, master of none. However, In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and I don’t mean to sound like an arrogant prick here, I do a move pretty well and that move is the Kimura.
For those not familiar with Jiu-Jitsu submission holds, the Kimura is a shoulder lock where you bend your opponents arm behind their back in hopes of them “tapping out” from the pain. In a self-defense situation you could tear the attackers shoulder joint pretty bad or even snap their humerus.
A lot of these Kimura intricacies I’ve developed on my own but also, I’ve had some great trainers and have attended some awesome seminars over the years so I want to pass along all of those techniques. I feel like it’s my way of giving back to an art that has givin me so much.
There’s definitely part of me that feels a little unworthy of hosting a seminar because I’m not a famous martial artist but what I lack in fame I will make up with passion and vigor. I will give my all to anyone who attends this seminar and I hope whatever they learn, it helps their game.
